CAM
PULLS AHEAD IN BTR 1,2,3
After the superb results at Hove, Torquay and Southampton,
things are still going well after the fourth round of the OMRA Championships at
Willen. The Team found the inland conditions not suited to the heavy
offshore hulls, but nonetheless managed to pull in some more points to open up
an even larger margin on the championships. Cam now leads D Class just
four points ahead of Tony who is just two points in front of Phil. In PD
Tony is pulling away with a big margin over his nearest rival and in C Class,
DP is getting closer to the class leader. Whichever way you look at it, BTR are
pulling out all the stops this season and all the time are still developing new
products!

BIG TEE RACING CLEAN UP AT OMRA TORQUAY
Domination of two classes and a runner up in a third means that BTR scooped
up more gongs at OMRA Torquay than any other team last weekend. Conditions were
superb and made for some quick times but BTR team racer Phil had a scorching
fastest time of the day with his works Pacer 60. A race report is available

BIG
TEE RACING PICKS UP FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS FOR 2011
In a closely-fought set of heats at sunny Hove on Sunday, Tony, Phil and Cam
all picked up some Championship points after overcoming the inevitable
start-of-season gremlins. All 3 managed to start off the season on the
points sheet and both Tony and Cam managed to get podium positions and bring
home some tinware! A full Race Report is available

Big Tee Racing launches Pacer hulls in full
carbon epoxy
The entire range of Pacer hulls has entered a new
phase in development with the advent of being made available in full carbon epoxy
construction. This cutting edge technology means that Pacers can now be
constructed harnessing F1 manufacturing materials, producing a light yet very
strong hull. This means less likelihood of your boat goign home in kit form at
the end of a race. More importantly, where a normal polyester resin hull
might last a couple of seasons, there is no reason why a carbon hull should not
last considerably longer, making the extra initial outlay more of an investment
than an expense. Lightness, stiffness and durability is brought to another level
with carbon expoy construction, and gives much more scope for further
technological development with your race boat.

Big
Tee Race Team to run in new OMRA "Production" D Class
Tony, Phil and Cameron are all planning to run boats in the
all-new OMRA Production D Class Championships during 2011. Choice of hulls is
not fully decided by the Team as yet, and it is likely that a mix of powerplants
will be used in this entry-level series. However, Phil and Cam are likely
to be using the lightweight Pacer 60 hull Cam ran throughout the 2010 season
with power supplied by a stock RCMK lump. Tony may run with a Pacer 60 too
although his championship-winning Oslo may get dusted off for this bit of fun!
With the idea of
OMRA PD Class being to promote model offshore powerboating to a wider
audience, PD Class makes this type of racing much more accessible and
affordable, when compared to other race classes. In addition, with the
inclusion of an appropriate exhaust and a fail safe, any off-the-shelf
production RTR boat of up to 26cc is eligible which means that this really is
the budget end of racing! Whilst the main focus of the team will be in
other classes throughout 2011 and with more product development planned, PD
class is being looked upon as a fun diversion for the Team amongst the serious
business of testing and racing new products and technologies.

PACER
60 PRODUCTION TEMPORARILY INTERRUPTED
Due to fact that demand for the
Pacer 60
has been so high, the mould has taken an absolute hammering over the last 18
months or so. It has finally reached the point whereby, in order to keep
the quality of our product high, a new mould has become necessary and this is
currently being manufactured at present. This means that production of the
Championship-winning
Pacer 60
hull has had to stop temporarily whilst the mould is made and cured, however the
good news is that this means that we have an ideal opportunity to drop in some
subtle new improvements to the design which will make this awesome hull even
better. In the meantime, we have had to cease accepting any further orders for
the Pacer 60
until such time as the new mould arrives. Production on both the
Pacer 50
and Pacer 70 continues
apace and orders are now coming in from all over the world for these hulls.
We will be announcing the re-commencement of production on the Pacer 60 as soon
as we can and at this time we will be able to accept orders for the Pacer 60
again.

Big Tee Gets the Hat-Trick!
For the third year in succession, Tony Gilder of Big Tee Racing has
secured the OMRA D Class National Offshore Championship.
A hard-fought season
for Tony was 2010 as continuous raceboat development hindered him in managing
to be as consistent as usual. Reliability gremlins caused by technical issues
plagued Tony's first half of the season and he as not the only one in the team
suffering from these issues as fellow team driver Phil Snewin was also finding
the start to the season a slow one.
For Tony however, success shone through in
the end with the championship coming right down to the last race of the season
at Penzance. A closely driven 1 hour heat in this picturesque little venue saw
Tony go head-to-head with Gary Darch from MCop Racing and it was all to play for
until Gary started to suffer from stoppages.
Tony too was not free from trouble
on the day as the CMB 26 he was running all season began to miss during the
first third of the race. Rather than stop, a risky pit strategy was adopted by
the team and Tony managed to nurse the big Pacer 70 round at a steady rate until
a re-fuel stop gave an opportunity to swap plugs. This cured the misfire and an
F1-slick pitstop saw Tony back on the water in under 3 minutes, well inside the
8 lap buffer he had managed to accrue. Finally, Tony won through and beat Nigel
Bedford into second place for the championship win with Gary Darch finally
coming in fourth to take second overall in the champs.
So yet again, another victory to chalk up for the team!
Congratulations to Tony
